I have a question. I have the new HDS 8 gen 2 with the insight mapping. well i put my fishing hot spots card in the slot and it works but Im not sure why some of the insight mapping doesnt work now. Before I put any cards in there would be hot spot icons all over the lake with info, now since i put in the hot spots card it doesnt show up. The hot spots card I got in 2006 to 2008. Also was wondering if this is a good card to have or if there is better ones out there.

Cause the you are overriding the Insight map with your FHS card....just like if you were to put the navionics card in, it will read that instead of insight....insight will not overlay with mapping cards...it's either one or the other....probably not seeing those hot spot icons cause your card is alot older than the insight which has been updated.

Just has built in lake maps, they arent as detailed tho. But a neat thing about it is it has hot spots and gives info on a particular area. Thats what I know about insight.

on a hds 7 with lss1 can you adjust the sensitivity on the sidescan? No, the only settings are contrast, range, color pallet, surface clarity, and noise rejection. Sensitivity is only for 2d sonar.

I turn mine on in the parking lot and turn it off at the ramp when I am loading the boat. A lot of the time I'll have it on in the garage watching a sonar log for more than an hour at a time.

Hey All. I have a couple questions. What causes the white splotches in the water column? The area between the center line and where the beam first hits bottom? What are the shallow water limits of structure scan? How shallow is too shallow for structure scan? Thanks!!
